The Ball Room on Pioneer House in Dewsbury

A project the NHTG students have worked on that we finished a few months ago. This is the Ball Room on Pioneer House in Dewsbury.

The original ceiling was in sand & lime but due to years of water ingress & general neglect the building fell into bad disrepair.

That’s me standing below the full ‘original’ ceiling prior to starting works.

With only a small budget available it was agreed to replicate all the original sections in position (ie take surveys, squeezes, templates etc) and replicate 1no bay ‘only’ in fibrous plaster especially due to the weight loading differences..

The final photo has Kevin Bryne and a team of plastering students from Kirklees building college along with site managers from KNH looking up at the finished product.
